North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter
meeting:
- Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler introducing today's
guest speaker as follows:
Patrick Burns with American Arbitration Association providing training on
Employment Arbitration. One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will
be applied for those individuals attending.
- The following agenda items were discussed in the business
portion of meeting:
- May meeting will feature guest speaker Dave Hulberg who will
present training on Pre/Post Hire Testing. The meeting will be held at
Connections in Big Lake beginning at 8:00 A.M.
- June meeting will feature Jeff Johnson with Midwest Resources
speaking on "The Most Difficult ADA/FMLA Issues". An Employment Law
training is being planned for the September meeting.
- Bruce reminded attendees of the need to provide 2 hours of sexual
harassment training every two years.
- March minutes were approved.
- North Star SHRM website is up-to-date through June 2007. No
meeting will be held in July.
- Bruce encouraged non-member attendees to join the chapter and
passed out "What's in it for me" SHRM brochure.
- The following Chapter Officer positions are open: President
Elect, Foundation Director, Legal Updates, Membership Director,
Professional Development Program Director, and School-to-Work Director.

- Legislative Update - No updates at this time.
