Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter meeting:

• Meeting was opened by President Sandy Fouquette. Bruce Tyler introduced today's guest speaker: Elaine Davis, Ph.D. speaking on "Making the Academic Connection". No PHR/SPHR recertification credit was approved for this session.
  
  
• The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:
  
  
  1. A motion was made and passed to accept the March meeting minutes.
     
     
  2. Treasurer reported a checking balance of $5,321.24 as of March 31st.
     
     
  3. Erica Naughton provided information packets on the new I-9 effective April 3, 2009
     
     
  4. Sandy provided updates on:
     
     • The Employee's Free Choice Act and advised the possibility that this may not pass.
       
     • COBRA - APPA.
     
     
  5. Bruce provided updates on the Elk River Expo.
     
     
  6. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 to be held at Connections in Big Lake at 8:00 am. Our speaker will be Jeff Johnson, Midwest Employment Resources, presenting on Practical Treatment for Ten Common FMLA Problems.
