MEETING MINUTES

Meeting:	North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting
Date:	April 9, 2008 8:00 a.m.

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter meeting:

• Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler with group introductions and thanking The Wellstead of Rogers for hosting. Our guest speaker today was: Kenneth White, Attorney presenting "Employee Handbook Issues". One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available for those individuals attending.
  
  
• The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:
  
  
  1. A motion was made and passed to accept the March meeting minutes.
     
     
  2. Treasurer reported a balance as of 3/31/08 of $6,666.63.
     
     
  3. Bruce reported on the Elk River Business Expo and thanked the members who volunteered to help man our booth. He reported that there are 2 possible new members as a result of our participation.
     
     
  4. Bruce reported that we have one new member joining as a result of attending the Monticello Job Search HR Group. They meet every 2nd Tuesday of each month from 8:00 - 10:30. Bruce advised that a discussion item from that group involved the Minnesota state law regarding employee voting rights and he reminded those participants that companies must allow employees time off before noon to go vote. Individuals should check the Minnesota Labor Website for further details.
     
     
  5. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 to be held at Connections in Big Lake at 8:00 am. Our speaker will be Nicole B. Sturges, with Erstad & Riemer, P.A., presenting "Current Issues in Minnesota Workers Compensation Claims". No additional items presented for discussions.

  Janet Ampe advised no new current issues.
