Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at the last Chapter
meeting:
Meeting was opened by President, Sandy Fouquette.
The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:
- A motion was made, 2nd and passed to accept the June meeting minutes.
- Discussion was held regarding the North Star SHRM web site. It is up next for development
from MN SHRM.
- Treasurer reported a checking balance of $3,772.15 as of July 31st. Motion was made to
approve report, 2nd, and passed.
- Sandy presented information regarding an upcoming Unemployment Insurance Seminar sponsored
by MN Job Service and MN Dept of Employment & Economic Development in partnership with the Job
Service Employer Committee and NorthStar SHRM to be held on September 9th at the Monticello
WorkForce Center, 406 E. 7th Street, Monticello, MN. NorthStar SHRM will apply for HRCI credits
for this seminar and it is free. Pre-registration is due by August 29th.
- Sandy announced that we will need a new meeting location as Connections will no longer be
available. As we will be meeting in St. Cloud in September and October is the State Convention
in Rochester, we would not need a location until November. Renae Hauge offered to try to secure
the Monticello Training Center for that meeting. Additional information will be forthcoming.
Bruce will check with the November speaker to ensure meeting day/time still work.
- A motion was made to provide a $50 gift certificate to Rhonda Klein in appreciation of
hosting our monthly meetings. It was seconded and approved.
- Our next meeting will be a joint meeting with the CMSHRM chapter on Thursday, September 24,
2009 to be held at Territories Gold Course 480 55th Avenue SE, St. Cloud (320) 528-4653 from
11:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a golf scramble. Additional information can be found at
http://CMSHRM.shrm.org for registration and directions. The
speaker will be: Laurie McIntosh,
SHRM North Central Field Service Director presenting Ethical Issues in Human Resources. One hour
of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available.
- Open Discussion - A reminder that we will be accepting donations for the baskets for the
State Convention. If you have an item/s you would like to donate please bring it to the
September meeting, or contact Jan Trushenski, Foundation Director at
jtrushenski@wellsteadofrogers.com for
additional information.
Bruce Tyler introduced today's presentation: SHRM Foundation DVD on "Seeing Forward - Succession
Planning at 3M". We are awaiting approval for 1 hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit for this
session.
