Meeting:	North Star SHRM Board Meeting

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at the Board meeting:

The meeting was called to order following close of regular business meeting. The following items were discussed:

• 2009 CAPS report is due by January 15 or 30. Future requirement and changes for SHRM SHIPS report were discussed.
  
  
• An extensive discussion was held regarding the possibility of holding educational seminars sponsored by NorthStar SHRM. It was decided that the January, February and March Social Media series would be opened to members and their CEO's and Marketing Directors. SHRM members could attend at no cost and guests would be charged $25 per session, or $50 for all 3 sessions. Discussion was held regarding having speakers come in from Ford & Harrison to present a seminar in April on unionization.
  
  
• Discussion was held regarding the pros and cons of membership in the Elk River and Big Lake Chambers of Commerce. It was determined that we are not seeing the ROI anticipated with our membership with these organizations and will let both of these memberships expire without renewal.
  
  
• Board positions were discussed. It was decided that if the chapter pays the annual membership dues for unemployed members, they must participate in either a board capacity or chapter activity.
  
  
• Discussion held regarding using Survey Monkey to survey members on areas of interest for training and other chapter activities.
