MEETING MINUTES

Meeting:	North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting
Date:	December 15, 2009 11:30 a.m.

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at the last Chapter meeting:

Meeting was held at Russell's on the Lake and was opened by President Sandy Fouquette.

The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:

• Sandy discussed a recent seminar that she attended regarding changes to unionization.
  
  
• Bruce informed the group he had a series of 3 speakers coming in for the January, February and March meetings to present on Social Media. January's topic is Social Media - Fear Factor, February is Social Media - Embrace It, and March is Social Media - Branding & Imaging. More information will be sent to members.
  
  
• Beginning in January our regular meeting location will be changed to First National Financial Services in Elk River. Their address is 812 Main Street. Meeting times will remain from 8:00 to 9:30 on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
  
  
• Discussion was held regarding format of meetings. Renae suggested that the 1st half hour begin with our business session in order to ensure we cover necessary subjects, followed by speakers. Bruce reminded the group that in order to be eligible for re- certification credit, the presenter must speak for a minimum of 1 hour.
  
  
• Sandy announced the slate of officers for next year as follows:
  • President - Renae Hauge
  • President Elect - Kim Savaria
  • Secretary/Treasurer - Jill Graham
  • Membership - Rhonda Madsen
  • Program Director - Bruce Tyler
  • Foundation - Jan Trushenski
  • Past President - Sandy Fouquette

• Discussion held regarding paying membership fee for unemployed members who volunteer for board positions. Donna Felix volunteered to take on a board position. Discussion was held regarding Membership Director position and that Rhonda Madsen might be interested in having someone else serve in that capacity. Bruce was going to check with Rhonda to determine final interest.
  
  
• A Board meeting will follow adjournment and an invitation to attend was made to present members.
  
  
• Drawings were held. Grand prize . 1 year paid National SHRM membership, won by Jan Trushenski.
