Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter
meeting:
- Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler introducing today's guest speaker
as follows: Tammy Friederichs, with Friederichs & Thompson, P.A., presenting on
Discrimination Mistakes. One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available
for those individuals attending.
- The following agenda items were discussed in the business
portion of meeting:
- A motion was made and passed to accept the January meeting minutes.
- Bruce reported that a State Council meeting was held on February 12th that he
attended. Also a Leadership meeting at Arrowwood will be held that he and Sandy
Fouquette will be attending.
- Bruce informed us that National SHRM has a news feed number to call providing up
to date HR news.
- Our September 18th meeting will be a joint meeting with the St. Cloud chapter
where a national speaker from National SHRM will speak on "10 HR challenges to keep you
awake at night". The meeting will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with location details
will be announced later. This will replace our normal local meeting.
- Bruce advised that we will need alternate meeting locations for our March and
April meetings as the Connections facility is unavailable. Liberty Paper offered to
host the March meeting and The Wellstead of Rogers volunteered to host the April
meeting.
- Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 to be held at Liberty
Paper, Inc. 13500 Liberty Lane, Becker, MN at 8:00 am. Our speaker will be Jeff
Johnson presenting "Is it time to Terminate?" Additional information will be sent with
directions.
- Legislative Update
Janet Ampe advised that new proposals for FMLA regulations had been made to include
better forms and doctor note clarifications. A new I-9 form has been released for
immediate use. Beginning January 1, 2008, employees must be notified of their right to
review their personnel files.
