North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter
meeting:
- Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler introducing today's
guests and
speakers as follows: Machelle Pearson with Trust in Us, LLC who arranged
for Chris Dexter with Motor Carrier Resources to provide training on the
benefits, costs and pitfalls of drug testing and Brian Kading with Trak-1
Technology speaking on Background Checks. One hour of PHR/SPHR
recertification credit will be applied for those individuals attending.
- Business portion of meeting began at 9:30 a.m. The following
agenda items were discussed:
- Connections will be unable to host the March and April meetings.
A substitute location will need to be found for those months. Kim Savaria
offered the ECM Publishers, Inc. location to host the March meeting. That
location was agreed upon. ECM Publishers, Inc. is located at 4095 Coon
Rapids Blvd., in Coon Rapids. Directions will be provided prior to next
meeting.
- Sheila Docken, P.A. will be our guest speaker at the March meeting
presenting training on Conflict and Dispute Resolution. One hour of
recertification credit will be available.
- The guest speaker for the April meeting will be Patrick Burns on
ADR policy.
- Gail Landowski has volunteered to continue as the Web Site
Coordinator. The following Chapter Officer positions are open: President
Elect, Foundation Director, Legal Updates, Membership Director,
Professional Development Program Director, and School-to-Work Director.

- Bruce advised members and guests that the North Star Chapter
number is 0621. Every North Star chapter member must be a member of the
national SHRM. Chapter members do not pay dues to North Star SHRM;
however, the Chapter receives funds from the national SHRM.
- Rhonda will print certificates for today's training.
- Minutes from last meeting were approved with one amendment
regarding payment for Sheila Docken for $250 to be paid to her.
- Legislative Update - No updates at this time.
