Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter
meeting:
- Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler thanking Liberty Paper for hosting today's
meeting and having group introductions. Guests today included Char Gatewood with Crystal
Cabinets in Princeton, guest of Kim Savaria and Sue Roberts, President of the St. Cloud Chapter.
Our guest speaker today was: Jeff Johnson presenting "Is it time to terminate?" One hour of
PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available for those individuals attending.
- The following agenda items were discussed in the business
portion of meeting:
- A motion was made and passed to accept the February meeting minutes.
- Treasurer reported a balance as of 2/29/08 of $6,574.88.
- Bruce reported that Cliff Tanner, President of the State Council, advised chapters of an
opportunity for companies to utilize Job Dig and have monies provided to chapters for fees.
Bruce has additional information for interested parties.
- Discussion was held regarding the Monticello Job Search that started an HR Group to discuss
hot HR topics. They meet every 2nd Tuesday of each month from 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Bruce attended
their last meeting and promoted North Star SHRM to attending group members. Char Gatewood
advised of the Princeton HR Group that also meets.
- Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 to be held at The Wellstead in
Rogers, 20600 S. Diamond Lake Road, Rogers, MN 55374 at 8:00 am. Our speaker will be Kenneth
White presenting on Employee Handbook Issues. Additional information will be sent with
directions.
- Additional discussions were opened. Deanna Anderson inquired regarding non-compete clauses
and unemployment experience ratings. Discussion was held regarding training videos regarding
harassment. Sandy Fouquette recommended the video "Coming Together" and would pass along
additional information regarding this video.
- Legislative Update
Janet Ampe advised little to report on new happenings. There are proposals out for changes in
ADA, considering an individual's disabilities with correction measures (hearing aids,
medication, etc.).
