MEETING MINUTES

Meeting:	North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting
Date:	November 10, 2009 8:00 a.m.

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at the last Chapter meeting:

Meeting was opened by President Elect Renae Hauge with group introductions. Our guest speaker today is: Janet Ampe, Attorney Henningson & Snoxell, Ltd. presenting "Employment Law Update". One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available for those individuals attending.

The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:

• A motion was made and passed to accept the September and October meeting minutes.
  
  
• Bruce informed members that our meeting place at Connections is no longer available. Beginning in January, our normal meeting location will change to First National Financial Services in Elk River. Their address is 812 Main Street. Meeting times will remain from 8:00 to 9:30 on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
  
  
• We are seeking a volunteer for Secretary/Treasurer for 2010. Kim Savaria has volunteered for President Elect in 2010. Please let a current board member know if you are interested.
  
  
• Our next meeting is on Wednesday, December 9th. It will be our annual social along with elections of next year.s officers and begins at 12:00 noon at Russell's on the Lake located at 111 Jefferson Blvd., Highway 10, Big Lake, MN 763-263-6111. An email reminder will be sent out to members.
  
  
• Treasurer reported a balance of $3,897.40 as of 10/31/09.
  
  
• Discussion was held regarding chapter funding. Bruce explained the payments we received from National SHRM for quarterly reimbursement for 100% chapters. A short discussion was held regarding the possible need for upcoming fund raisers for our treasury, in additional to looking at the ROI of membership in Chamber of Commerce. We currently belong to both Elk River and Big Lake Chambers.
  
  
• Renae and Kim will be attending the SHRM Leadership Conference in Alexandria, VA November 19th through November 22nd. As a 100% SHRM chapter, national SHRM will pay conference registration and room for one board member to attend. Our chapter will pay the airfare for both to fly, and the $350 registration fee for Kim to attend. They will share a room to minimize costs.
• Prize drawings were held, donated by Janet Ampe.
