MEETING MINUTES

Meeting:	North Star SHRM Board Meeting
Date:	November 12, 2008 8:00 a.m.

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at the Board meeting:

Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler with group introductions. Our guest speaker today was: Janet Ampe, Attorney Henningson & Snoxell, Ltd. presenting "Employment Law Update". One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be available for those individuals attending.

The following agenda items were discussed in the business portion of meeting:

• Deanna Anderson, Becker Furniture, has volunteered to develop a promotional brochure for the North Star SHRM Chapter.
  
  
• Bruce reminded members that the Minnesota State Conference will begin to rotate the annual conference. In 2009 it will be in Rochester, 2010 . Duluth, and 2011 back in St. Cloud.
  
  
• We received a thank-you from SHRM Foundation for our chapter.s $200 donation given at the September joint meeting in St. Cloud.
  
  
• A motion was made and passed to accept the September meeting minutes.
  
  
• Treasurer reported a balance as of 10/31/08 of $5,579.31.
  
  
• Bruce discussed Job Dig contributions for utilizing their site, additional money available to our Chapter. Also, Bruce explained the payments we received from National SHRM for quarterly reimbursement for 100% chapters.
  
  
• We are still looking for a volunteer for President-Elect for 2010. Sandy Fouquette has volunteered for President in 2009.
  
  
• Bruce discussed the CAPS report that we are required to provide to National SHRM. We were awarded Superior Merit Award last year; however requirements have changed and we need to complete 3 items in 8 different areas to receive award this year. Bruce will be sending additional information out to members regarding this. Our chapter grew 48% this past year and we will be getting an award at the upcoming Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. that Bruce will be attending next week. National SHRM pays seminar cost and our chapter pays for Bruce.s airfare to attend.
  
  
• Our next meeting will be held on December 10th. It will be our annual social and will be held at 12:00 noon at Russell.s on the Lake located at 111 Jefferson Blvd., Highway 10, Big Lake, MN 763-263-6111. An email reminder will be sent out to members.
  
  
• Bruce will be our Program Chairman for next year and will coordinate upcoming programs with Sandy. Please let him know if you have any ideas or areas of interest for training programs.
  
  
• Prize drawings were held.
  
  
• No additional items presented for discussions.
