North Star SHRM Chapter Meeting

Listed below is a recap of the items discussed at our last Chapter
meeting:
- Meeting was opened by President Bruce Tyler introducing today's
guest speaker as follows: Jeff Johnson presented The Most Difficult
ADA/FMLA Issues. One hour of PHR/SPHR recertification credit will be
applied for those individuals attending.
- The following agenda items were discussed in the business
portion of meeting:
- Bruce advised that our chapter still has not joined the Elk River Chamber of Commerce. The
annual fee is $125.00. A motion was made and approved to join.
- Bruce advised he received 13 email responses back from chapter members regarding his
attendance at the 2007 SHRM Leadership Conference. Discussion was held regarding the chapter.s past
practice of paying expenses for board members to attend such events. A motion was made and approved
to pay for airline expenses for Bruce to attend this conference.
- Discussion was held regarding the State SHRM conference in October. Bruce reminded members
that he has raffle tickets for sale. Kim advised that she had sent an email to chapter members
requesting donations for our basket. A motion was made and approved to allow for a supplement of up
to $75.00 to purchase additional items for the basket if needed.
- Kim reported the current checking balance as of 8/31/07 is $6,853.00.
- No October meeting will be held but members are encouraged to attend the State SHRM
conference.
- The November meeting will feature Bruce Miles from Big River Consulting presenting "Chainsaw
Planning - Strategic Planning".
- Our December meeting will be a social with details to be announced.
- The following Chapter Officer positions are open: President Elect, Foundation Director, Legal
Updates, Membership Director, Professional Development Program Director, and School-to-Work Director.

- Legislative Update - No updates at this time.
